  1 Cup Butter
1.5 Cups White Sugar
3 Whole Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
3.5 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 tsp Cream of Tarter
1 tsp Baking Soda
.5 tsp Salt
4 Cups Confectioners Sugar
.5 Cups Shortening
5 TBLS Milk
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
 
  <p><strong>Cookie Directions:</strong></p><ol><li><span class="plaincharacterwrap break"> Cream the butter and add the sugar gradually. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at time, mixing well after each addition. </span></li><li><span class="plaincharacterwrap break"> Stir in the vanilla. Add the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt gradually to the creamed mixture. Cover and chill dough overnight. </span></li><li><span class="plaincharacterwrap break"> Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. </span></li><li><span class="plaincharacterwrap break"> Roll dough out on a powdered sugar surface to 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick and cut into your favorite shapes. Place cookies onto the prepared baking sheets. </span></li><li><span class="plaincharacterwrap break"> Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 6 to 8 minutes or until cookie has a golden appearance. </span></li></ol><p><strong>Frosting Directions:</strong></p><p><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">In a large bowl, cream together the confectioners&#39; sugar and shortening until smooth. Gradually mix in the milk and vanilla with an electric mixer until smooth and stiff, about 5 minutes. Color with food coloring if desired.&nbsp; </span></p><p>&nbsp;</p>
