  1 Cup Butter
2 Cups Packed brown sugar
2  eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1//2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 cups quick-cooking oatmeal
  Filling :
12  oz. pkg. semi-sweet choc. chips
1 15 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 Tbls. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts
2 tsp. vanilla
 
 

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Mix in eggs and vanilla.  Sift together flour, soda and salt.  Stir in oatmeal.  Blend dry ingredients into creamed mixture and set aside.

Melt choco. chips, condensed milk, butter and salt on top of double boiler (or I use a heavy pan).  When smooth add nuts and vanilla. 

Pat 2/3 oatmeal mixture in bottom of 15 1/2 X 10 1/2 pan.  cover with choc. mixture.  Dot with remaining oatmeal mixture.  Bake.

They freeze well.
