  Sausage Pasta Bake

  1 Pound Ziti
1 Pound Italian sausage
1 15 oz.  Ricotta cheese
1  Egg
1 Large Yellow onion
2 Tsp. Garlic, minced
1 Tsp. Dried oregano
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1/2 Tsp. Black pepper
1 1/2 Jars (26oz Spaghetti sauce
1 8 oz. Shredded Italian cheese
1 Tsp. Dried basil
 
 

Preheat oven :  350.   

Grease a 9 X 13 baking dish

 

Cook and drain pasta.

While pasta is cooking cook sausage. Drain and set aside.

Stir together ricotta, egg, onion, garlic, oregano mix until well combined.  Stir in the drained pasta, salt, pepper and 1/2 the jar of sauce.  Mix well.

 

In prepared baking dish cover with 1/3 jar of sauce.  Layer 1/2 the pasta, 1/3 jar sauce and 1/2 the cheese.  Repeat. Sprinkle with basil.

 

Cover the dish tightly with foil.  Bake 20 minutes.  Uncover and bake 5 - 10 minutes more until cheese is melted. 

 

* When I made this I didn't have ricotta so I put cottage cheese in the bullet until it was smooth and it worked out fine.

* I also used 3 garlic cloves. I didn't measure it but tasted great.

* I also sauted the onions before mixing them in.
