1 Cup Sugar
2 TBLS Flour
1 TBLS Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
6 Tart Apples, pealed, cored, diced
1 TBLS Butter
4 Cups Flour
2 tsp Salt
1 1/2 Cups Shortening
1/4 Cup Cold Water
For the Filling:
Mix the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg with the apples and set aside.
For the Crust:
Mix the flour and salt with the shortening until crumbly.
Add cold water and knead.
Roll out 1/2 of the dough and place in an 8-inch pie tin.
Cut off extra dough and poke with fork to prevent air bubbles.
Place the apple mixture in the pan on top of the dough.
Roll out the other half of the dough and place on top of the apples.
Pinch dough around the edges to seal it.
Poke top of pie with a fork gently
Sprinkle top with sugar
