  Sausage Sandwich Squares

  3 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Package Active Dry Yeast
1/2 tsp Salt
1 1/3 Cups Warm Water (120-130 degrees)
1 pound Bulk Italian Sausage
1 Whole Sweet Red Pepper, diced
1 Whole Green Pepper, diced
1 Large Onion, diced
4 Cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1 Whole Egg
1 TBLS Water
2 TBLS Grated Parmesan Cheese
2 TBLS Minced Parsley
1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
1/8 tsp Garlic Powder
 
 
  1. In a bowl, combine 2 cups flower, yeast and salt.  Add warm water, mix well.
  2. Add in enough of the remaining flower to form a firm dough.
  3. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic (about 6 min).
  4. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  5. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 50 min).
  6. In a skillet cook sausage until no longer pink.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  8. In the drippings saute peppers and onion until tender; drain
  9. Press half the dough on the bottom and a 1/2" up the sides of a greased 15' x 10" x 1" baking pan.
  10. Spread sausage evenly over the crust
  11. Top with pepprs and onions
  12. Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese
  13. Roll out remaining dough to fit pan; place over cheese and seal the edges.
  14. In a small bowl, beat egg and water. 
  15. Add remaining ingredients, mix well.
  16. Brush over dough
  17. Cut slits in top
  18. bake 400 degrees for 20-25 min or until golden brown.
  19. Cut into squares
